The Kitchener-Waterloo area in south central Ontario is one of the fastest growing and most economically stable regions of Canada. Kitchener is the largest city in the region and the seat of the Waterloo Regional Municipality. In the census of 2006 the Kitchener's population was 204,6682. The City of Waterloo situated right beside Kitchener has a population of just under 100,000. Waterloo also has more than 20,000 non-resident post-secondary students attending classes at its universities and regional colleges. The two cities actually abut each other and collectively are almost always called Kitchener-Waterloo or K-W.

The city of Cambridge is located in the southern part of Waterloo Region with a population of just over 120,000. Cambridge was formed in 1973 with the merging of the municipalities of Galt, Preston, Hespeler and Blair. Many local people felt the merger was a "shotgun marriage" forced on them by the Province of Ontario.

In the first decade of the new millenium Waterloo Region is one of the most dynamic and fastest growing areas in Canada because it has some of the best farm land in Canada, two well respected Universities, a very stable financial sector, numerous manufacturing plants and a rapidly expanding high tech sector centered around Research in Motion and numerous spinoff businesses from the region's two univeristies.

Families thinking about settling in the Region will find excellent job opportunities, an exciting and varied cultural life, and unmatched educational facilities. K-W real estate is also quite a bit cheaper than similar homes in other nearby cities such as Toronto or Ottawa.

Indeed, residents and businesses in Waterloo Region have an enviable combination. They have the more friendly and pleasant atmosphere found in a smaller urban centre along with the considerable amenities of major urban centres such as Toronto, Mississauga, London and Detroit.
